Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation (SCF) pays attention to the combination of theoretical and practical trainings. SCF focuses on the blending and penetrating of theory and practice in the teaching process. The students are encouraged to take use of the design workshops, so they can learn the materialisation and realisation of possible designs, accumulate practical experiences, and ultimately present a graduate design by combining the theory and practice that they have learned.
The purpose of our workshop was to support this mixture of theory and practise and supply the students with tools to do so. We introduced the students to our In-House creative process, our design thinking methods and what it means for us to design in our modern society of technology and media. Students from Fashion and Interior Design were mixed together into project groups in order to create diverse projects where the relationship between the human body, technology and the surrounding space could be explored. Together, they developed a range of conceptual design proposals.
